shoe lust

Between the cooler temperatures this week and the fall catalogues that have been hitting my mailbox, it seems that summer may be winding down faster than I’d like to admit. I’m not quite ready to give up my open-toed shoes yet (fine, I’m NEVER ready to give up my open-toed shoes), but I did spot a cute pair of driving mocs, which appear to be making a bit of a comeback, in Land’s End’s newest catalogue.

Land's End Joanne Classic Car Driver Shoes

I know, I know, Land’s End isn’t exactly on the cutting edge of fashion, but I do occasionally find cute pieces there, and don’t you just adore the colors they have in this shoe? And have you met Land’s End Canvas yet? It’s like the younger, cooler little sister of Land’s End. Lots of super-cute finds there, too.

BUT. It’s not fall yet. So back to my sandals and bare feet for what will hopefully be another 2 or 3 months.

I haven’t done a shoe post in some time, but OMG, I have been lusting after these boots (in black not green, but still, the green is pretty awesome, too) for over a year now.  I think that sleeping on it for a year far exceeds the sleep-on-it rule, but I just bought a pair of black boots and do I really need two pairs and so on and so forth, why am I not yet independently wealthy?!  Oh, right, because I spend money on beautiful shoes.  Anyways, GORGEOUS.

After 13 consecutive days of posting, I completely lost steam. This happened to coincide with me coming down with YET another cold precisely one month to the day from the start of my last cold. Then last night, Sweet Girl started showing symptoms, so we all crashed reasonably early, but of course we had a miserable night of sleep to boot. Mercifully, this cold doesn’t seem quite as bad as the last one, but nevertheless Sweet Girl is congested, and she loves sucking her thumb, and those two things don’t mix because of the whole needing to breathe thing. Ugh. And can I just say that I hate the makers of Nyquil who package their medication in those tiny little plastic bank vaults that you can’t get open when you’re in peak health much less when your brain is foggy and your arms feel like lead. Also, there is nothing worse than waking up in the morning and having to clear your sinuses of everything that has gathered through the night. Even my kid was like “Mama, what’s that sound?!” Honey, that’s just the sound of Mama trying to expectorate her brains through her nose. Nothing to worry about, dear.

Anyways, to make up for missing two days of posting, I’ll try to double-post today and some other day this month to get me to 30 posts by 11/30, but in the meantime I wanted to give you all the heads up that 6pm.com has all their Nine West shoes on sale for $14.95. This is a STEAL, people. Check it out! Thanks to my lovely friend, Melanie, for the tip!

I thought it would be nice to take a short break from the your questions and end the week with a pair of completely adorable, but totally impractical shoes.

Emilio Pucci flats

I love the print, I love the colors (apparently, I’m going through an orange phase right now), but first, the obvious lack of support would destroy anyone’s feet, let alone mine with plantar fasciitis. Second, $225?! For those? I may love shoes, but Imelda Marcos I am not.

Enjoy your weekend everybody, and back to your questions tomorrow.

Shoes!

Please, tell me you didn’t see this coming. After yesterday’s installment of Poor Application of Literary and Economic Theory to a Modern Day Phenomenon, I think it’s fairly obvious that this posting every day thing is really hard for me. Thus, I’m going back to my comfort zone and posting shoes!

Keen Charleston MJ

I purchased these Keens a few weeks ago, and I do love them for fall. Such a fun color (although admittedly a little tricky to match socks to, and will likely be dated long before I stop wearing them), and so soft and comfy. I wish they had slightly better arch supports, but that’s because I’m getting old and falling apart at the seams.

Dearest readers and friends who may or may not have abandoned me altogether, please accept my apologies for my prolonged absence.  I suppose on the one hand it’s lovely that life outside this blog has been full and crazy and intense enough to keep me away from here.  Nevertheless, I value the interactions I have online, and some of you I don’t get to see every day, and right here is the only place we get to meet up on any kind of regular basis.  In any case, I’m working on finding that healthy balance, and I’ll do my best to be more present with you.

In honor of the FABULOUS weather we’re having around these parts, I’d like to introduce you to these lovely flip-flops that I bought at an Old Navy outlet for $5 this week.  Colorful, soft, flexible, and more sturdy than the run-of-the-mill Old Navy flip-flops, these will be my close companions until it’s once again too cold to subject my toes to the elements.  I think at the price they’re selling for, I’ll have to buy a few extra pair to keep on hand.

It would figure that I picked one of my busiest work weeks in a while to start this blog. Sadly, I haven’t had the time to craft a REAL post yet, but never fear, I have a laundry list of topics to tackle in the coming weeks and some lovely guest bloggers who have graciously offered to grant us a peek into their infinite wisdom right here on this site. I hope you’ll love them as much as I do.

In the meantime, I leave you with this lovely pair of flats that bring out my inner rock star.

I haven’t shopped at Payless in years, and thus, I always forget about them for shoes, but for a fun pair that will last a season or two, it’s a great place to go.
